Books of Wonder and moi (a follow-up!)

I had a lot of fun yesterday at the Books of Wonder reading. Our five-book mashup (compiled by David Levithan) was very funny even though I had to read a lot of "intimate" scenes! It was so funny because we hadn't had the chance to practice beforehand, and when I saw the "clips" I had to read, I was like, "Did I really write this?"

Let me tell you, if Black girls could blush... ;-)

Thankfully, there were lots o' Longstockings in the audience to help keep me relaxed! After the reading, I got to meet [info]blackholly and [info]theoblack. I was so embarrassed because I didn't recognize Theo at all despite the fact that he designed my website and I've seen tons of pictures of him. I signed a lot more books than at the book signing in Nashville, but really, there was nowhere to go but up! Then after everything was done, a whole big group of us went out for dinner. Since our group was so large, we did a lot of bonding while standing around waiting for a free table. Then even more bonding over dinner! I don't know if I can remember the whole group, but it included David, [info]e_lockhart, Maureen Johnson, Theo, Holly, Sarah Beth Durst, [info]bgliterary and me.

Today I change hats and grade my psychology students' research papers.

Oh yeah, if you want a laugh, check this out:

Someone put together all the corny one-liners used by David Caruso in the opening scene of CSI MIAMI (before The Who song!) Pay special attention to the "brilliant" use of sunglasses! Hysterical!!!

I think I wouldn't recognize anyone, either, even though I've seen pics. ;-)
I tend to be really bad at recognizing people, especially when they are not in their "normal" environment. Like, I know all my students' names, but I wouldn't if I saw them in the supermarket or coffee shop! I would think, "Where do I know them from?!"

Just getting an early start on "senior moments!" :-)
So great to see you at Books of Wonder! You did a fabulous job with your reading. Also, I mentioned this on your MySpace page, but... I read TYRELL on the train ride home. Really excellent! So well-written. The characters are so deftly drawn.

Hope to see you again soon.
